Macclesfield Town defender Shaun Brisley has signed a new two-year deal at the Moss Rose. The 21-year-old was restricted to just 16 appearances in 2010/11 after he underwent hip surgery which ruled him out for four months.

Brisley told the club website: "I'm only really focussed on one thing, which is earning a regular place in the side here and progressing as a player.

"I passed 100 games last year so I want to concentrate on the next hundred."

The versatile defender, who can play anywhere across the backline, made his debut for the Silkmen aged just 17.

Brisley signed a two-year deal in June 2009 and was out of contract at the Moss Rose, so was more than happy to commit to his local side.

"I know that I don't need to be worrying about where I will be next season now, so can concentrate on playing," he said.

"Of course I want to play at the highest level possible, but as I'm under 24, I wouldn't be a free agent next summer.

"Either way so it works out best for everyone if I'm on a two year deal and I'm enjoying my football at 'Macc', so was happy to commit."
